Ghosting

Ghostwriting services take three forms:

  1. Writing from scratch.
  2. Improving upon existing material.
  3. Assist in writing a manuscript.

Writing a book from scratch is the most intensive and exhilarating type of ghostwriting service. I travel to your location and record a series of structured interviews.  Then in my office I transcribe and shape your interview material into a rough working draft. You will want to add more material as we pass the manuscript back and forth for revisions and follow up on Skype or in person.

Ghosting also takes the form of improving upon previously written existing material. If you have a manuscript that needs completing or revising I can rewrite existing material to make it more readable and publishable. I can write transitional material or chapter endings or extend blog posts. Almost always this level includes a developmental edit in which I make suggestions about your book’s structure and suggest material to delete or add. My goal is to make your material shine and present in the best possible light.

When I assist in writing a manuscript my job may involve a combination of improving previous material and writing from scratch. You may send me research material or point me to relevant information that I then sift through and synthesize to write a new manuscript. If you have a clear direction about the book’s purpose and structure you may find it most efficient to simply polish my rough draft. Other times my assistance may include helping you to think through ideas, structure a book, and then actively edit the rough drafts.

How long does it take? Writing a book is a significant commitment of time and energy! I have written a book in as little as three months but more typically it takes 10-12 months, or longer.

I am always honored to be let inside the world that makes up a book, and I love becoming fluent with a new life story, field, or mindset.

A book always begins with a conversation! Contact me so we can set up a time to discuss how to write your book.

Karen is my #1 referral for anyone needing help with writing a book.
